DR. MICHAEL LITTMAN SEEKS ELECTION TO SCHOOL BOARD
Tuesday May 15 at Williamsville North from 7AM to 9PM.
Dr. Michael Littman, Chair of the Business Department at Buffalo State, and a Fellow at the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University announces his election campaign for the Williamsville Board of Education. He has spent 40 years as an educator and focuses on putting children first.
An experienced board leader, he has served two terms as Board President and two terms as Vice-President while a member from 2006-2015. His campaign focuses on a history of fiscal responsibility, advocacy for academic achievement, athletics, arts, music, school safety, health and wellness programs, special need student programs, and character development. He supports adding Hebrew as a language available in our schools. If elected, he would be the only Jewish member of the Board.
His competency and his leadership skills as a listener and consensus builder have been noted. Dr. Littman has received a School Board Excellence Award (2015) and a School Board Achievement Award (2012) from the New York State School Board Association. He was the recipient of the 2015 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
His two children, Ezra and Jess, are North graduates and attended Kadimah in the elementary grades.
Active in the Jewish community, Dr. Littman served on the Board at Congregation B’Nai Shalom, served as a regional ambassador for Volunteers for Israel, and delivered Kosher Meals on Wheels. He also taught at Temple Sinai and served on the Education Committee at Kadimah.
He has served as a coach for AYB (2003-2011), Lou Gehrig (1998-2007) and the Special Olympics (2012-2015) as well as Heim Middle PTSA President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. He has also serves on the Amherst Board of Ethics, as VP of the Board at Morton Lane Federal Credit Union, the Williamsville Superintendent’s Advisory Council, the Buffalo Superintendent’s Advisory Council for Occupational Education, and the 69th DPS of the Flying Tigers, 14th Air Force Association.
