Israelis mourn their losses, the women and men who have sacrificed their lives for Israeli Independence the day immediately before Israeli Independence Day – understanding that freedom and responsibility, liberty and sacrifice, are intrinsically intertwined.
As American Jews, as Jewish American, we also understand this. We know as citizens that citizenship comes with a communal responsibility to fulfill the expectations of our country while at the same time guaranteeing our own freedoms and those of our neighbors.
This is the Jewish definition of freedom – one that relies on our commitment to being good people and good neighbors.
Wishing everyone health and safety as we all strive together to guarantee a safe and health society for all.
