Leviticus 25:23 reads: “…for the land is Mine; for you are sojourners and resident-settlers with Me…”
God logically justifies fairness in land use and ownership because all really belong to God. A timely reminder from this week’s Torah reading when every day reminds us of the tenuous state of things. We now count our blessings as clearly bound together with the people and the community who sustain us and support us.
The good fortune of a home and God willing a job stands out more than ever as the thin veils of protection that our society afforded us are drawn back.
When we view all of this through the lens that all things belong to God, then generosity and communal
compassion must guide us through these difficult times. All things are merely borrowed from God. All our stuff is temporary. Our good deeds are sacred and lasting because their impact lives long beyond anything we might own.

Wishing all of you well in these troubling times. Wishing all of us the caring and compassion to bring our
community through it with newfound wholeness and blessings,
community through it with newfound wholeness and blessings,
