This week was Veterans Day, and this week we read of the death of our matriarch, Sarah, and the matching of Rebecca to Sarah’s son Isaac.
Honoring and remembering our Veterans we look back on all that American women and men have fought for: our independence, our liberty, our security. We appreciate all who still selflessly devote themselves to our country’s well-being, insuring our present and our future.
The Torah asks us to do the same: to remember and honor the people who made us who we are and to look around at where we are, the people who need us and who give to us, and to care for one another and guarantee a future for all of us together.
May the spirits of our matriarchs, Sarah and Rebecca, inspire us to care for one another.
May the dedication of our American Veterans always remind us that we depend on one another.
